Hi! This is Yoshiki from X Japan… by the way are you going to introduce yourself?
Hi I’m Sara I’m Yoshiki’s assistant
Music has been very important thing in my life. Do you wanna hear how I started composing? Or how I started playing?
So a lot of artists influenced my musical career so I wanna play some of those. Well some of them I just like to listen to. First artist I should play – Slipknot.
I saw them… I think I saw them few times. One of them – at Ozzfest.
They really rocked hard. I was always wondering like… There was also a festival in summer.
So last time X Japan performed… We performed last august in Soccer Stadium in Japan.
So you were there, right?
Yes I was
It was so hot
It was very hot
Right, just standing there and just sweat
Then on top of that I had to play drums… I had to play drums… then also power technique fires all over the place. I don’t know how I even did it. I can’t imagine – they have to wear mask and they always outfit. Because when I play drums I pretty much like body half-naked. I can’t even imagine how hot… Well I respect them. It’s honor to be playing heavy. I respect them because of that too.
Slipknot “Duality”.
Radiohead with “Creep”. My ex-ex-ex girlfriend, she was crazy about Radiohead. So… she almost combated me just talking “Radiohead”. Seriously I… all of them I didn’t know. So then it was hard to get the ticket at that. So I know it was Axes record company, she says Yoshiki, you have to take me to the concert then I said like “ok”. Tom Yorke is amazing I mean and the band was amazing.
I started listening to lot of Radiohead songs. This is one of the first songs that very touched my heart from their songs. So I have to play this.
Radiohead with “Creep”.
What kind of band is X Japan? Of course we are based on… I mean our roots islike hard-rock and heavy metal then also punk-rock. Also because of probably me…I grew up with classical music. So then at the same time being in Japan you may hear a lot of those elements from Japanese band. We… animation is a huge part of our culture. So we have interesting combination. Some people said about… like… make up: “Do you have influence from kabuki?” I say: “Probably. I’ve never really seen actual kabuki. I do have a friend to… May be I should go see kabuki.”
You know what I’m also friends with sumo wrestler, but other Japanese cultural things are part of X Japan’s music.
The next song V.A.S.T with “Touched”. This is amazing song. I don’t know how many people know this artist.

Well I listen… I started listening to Sex Pistols very early as well. I think I was at elementary school. Then my mother was like “What are you listening?” I said: “Sex Pistols”. She’s like: “What? What are you listening?” - “Sex Pistols”. She just walked away. Hahaha
The next song Pretty Reckless with “Make me wanna die”. Am… Yeah, she is from „Gossip Girl“(Певица, Taylor Momsen, снималась в сериале„Gossip Girl“)… You know what? I remember this, in Japan people say you look like…
Oh that I’m… People even called me “Taylor” in the streets… Haha
